Journalism Public Relations Social Work
The Faculty of Humanities provides training of students and prepares specialists with humanitarian orientation – journalists, image-makers (specialists in Public Relations), social workers, etc. The main goal of the Faculty is to provide students and teaching staff with good opportunities and conditions for preparation, qualification and research that are equivalent to the standards of leading universities. The mission of the Journalism Speciality is to prepare specialists for one of the most criticized and the most favourable professions, which requires not only theoretical knowledge, but also learning modern media technologies and a set of professional standards. Subjects on theory and history of journalism, communication, public relations, politics, business, culture, social problems are included in the curriculum. One-month summer practice in the press, the radio and the television is also envisaged. The mission of the Public Relations Speciality is to combine modern communication techniques and technologies with the real interests of the organizations, and to offer inter - discipline approach in the area of social sciences, psychology, international relations, social and commercial marketing. An emphasis is made on the communication competence of the future image makers. A study PR Agency is established at the university for the students to practice. The mission of the Social Work Speciality is to prepare modern specialists – social workers to work as professionals in the public institutions in Bulgaria for: social offices, social services, social adaptation and reintegration, social and psychological consultation and other forms of social support to individuals, groups and communities. The Faculty of Humanities work on mutual projects with the University of Tennessee in the USA; Trakya University in Edirne, Turkey; University of San Jorge, Spain; University of Granada, Spain.
