ADMISSION OF FOREIGN STUDENTS AT BURGAS FREE UNIVERSITY
Foreign nationals may apply at Burgas Free University if they have completed their secondary education which gives them the right to enroll in a higher education institution in the country they are coming from.
They have to prepare the following application documents: 1. Application to the Rector of the University containing short CV data and the major that the applicant wants to study. 2. A copy of the secondary education certificate and the supplement with the grades received – if the students are applying for a whole period of study; 3. An official document issued by a competitive authority, to certify that the candidate has the right to continue his education in the higher education institutions in the country where the secondary education has been completed; 4. Transcript of Records – if the students are applying for a certain period of study; 5. A copy of the higher education certificate – if the students are applying for a master’s degree; 6. A document certifying the level of knowledge of the Bulgarian language, issued by a higher education institution in the Republic of Bulgaria – if the applicants speak Bulgarian and will not attend the preparatory language course. 7. A certificate of health issued within one month before the date of application and certified by the respective authorities of the country from which the candidate is applying; 8. A copy of the documents certifying the nationality of the candidate - if the candidate is of dual nationality, one of which is Bulgarian. 9. 2 photographs 10. A copy of the passport or identity card.
Thå documents on items 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 should be translated in Bulgarian (or English), certified and legalized at the Bulgarian Embassy or Consulate in the country, from which the candidate is applying.
The application documents should be submitted personally or sent by postal mail to the address of Burgas Free University no later than the 1st of September. The students enroll after a ranking according to their documents.
Studies at Burgas Free University are held in Bulgarian. Therefore, one year for preliminary study of Bulgarian language is compulsory for all foreign students who do not speak Bulgarian.
Annual tuition fees for foreign nationals: 1. Full-time students - the tuition fee is 1500 Euro per semester (3000 Euro per academic year). Tuition fees are due and payable at the time of registration for each semester. 2. The fee for the preparatory year for studying Bulgarian language is 1200 Euro per semester (2400 Euro per academic year).
