On 11-13 June 2004 the international conference “The Challenges to the Education and Science in the Context of Globalisation” was held at BFU. Many lecturers from Bulgaria, Turkey, Russia and Belarus took part in it and presented papers.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lina Anastassova was invited to take part in and present a paper at the international conference on “Sustainable Development and Marketing of Tourist Destinations” in Naples - Parthenope University, in April 2004
On 16.04.2004 the Faculty for Computer Science, Engineering and Natural Studies organised “Evening of the Computer Science”. Representatives of leading companies in Burgas were invited.
Prof. Dr. Andon Lazarov participated in the conference "2004 NASA ICNS (Integrated Communications, Navigation and Surveillance) Technologies Conference & WorkshopConference & Workshop", to be held in Fairfax, Virginia, USA, from 26 to 30 April 2004.
During the period 22.02.2004 – 8.03.2004 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivanka Stamova held lectures on “Differential Equations – New Tendencies, Applications, Open Problems” at the University of Texas in San Antonio, USA
Prof. Dr. Andon Lazarov was awarded the prize ‘Certificate for High Evaluation’ for the best paper presented at the 21st Conference on Digital Aviation Systems in Irvine, California, USA

On 04-05.12.2003 the Faculty for Humanities at BFU organised the scientific conference “Humanitarian Study – Traditions and Modern Tendencies”
On 21.11.2003 at BFU a meeting was held on the problems of realization and development of young specialists in the area of electrical engineering and electronics.
On 16-17 October 2003 the scientific conference on “Modern Technologies – 03” was held at the Faculty for Computer Science, Engineering and Natural Studies
On 12 May 2003 BFU awarded the honorary degree of Doctor Honoris Causa of Burgas Free University to Mr. Abdullah Gul, Deputy Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey.
Prof. Dr. Emiliya Kandeva was awarded the prestigious European award “Alena Brunovska” for the year 2003 for her outstanding contribution to the training in Public Administration.
On 15
May 2003 the
Faculty for Humanities organized a meeting with the poet Georgi Konstantinov, who presented his new book of poetry
“My recital”
On
15-16 May 2003 the Faculty for Business Studies organised
the Second International Scientific Conference “Marketing in the Era of Globalisation – Concepts, Trends”. Over 50 lecturers and
researchers from the area of marketing from Turkey, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Bulgaria took part in the conference.
The
Faculty for Legal Studies of BFU and the Eurointegration
Association held the traditional yearly scientific conference “Transnational
cooperation” on 9 May 2003 in Burgas. The
conference was held under the sign of the Day of Europe – 9 May.
On
21-22.02.2003 in Pamporovo the conference
“Modern Approaches in Managing the Economic Structures” was held, organised
by the Programme Council on Management at the Faculty
for Business Studies at BFU. About 30 lecturers and PhD faculty from different
economic and other universities in Bulgaria took part in it – BFU, Economic
University-Varna, University of National and World Economy-Sofia, Business Faculty
at the Sofia University, etc.
On
30.09. – 04.10.2001 BFU organised the anniversary
conference with international participation “The University in the Third Millenium” on the occasion of the 10th
anniversary from the establishment of BFU.
On
6-8 June 2001 the famous French scientist prof. Jean-Denis Mouton – Director of
the European University Centre in Nanci, visited Burgas Free University.
Prof. Mouton is a specialist in the area of the international and European law.
He participated in the opening of the scientific conference “PREPARING PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION FOR THE
EUROPEAN INTEGRATION: THE ROLE OF TRAINING IN LAW” and
read a paper on: “The Perspectives for Enlargement of the European Union”.
On 10.05.2001 a scientific seminar was held at Burgas Free University on the theme: “The Private Higher
Educational Institution – a Place for Liberal Education”. The Vice-Minister of
Education Prof. Dr. of Philosophic Studies Borislav Toshev read a plenary paper.
On 04.12.2000 a national literature scientific
conference was held at BFU: “Petya Dubarova’s Works - In and
Outside the Framework of the Social Definition. Perspectives of Literatury-Critical Interpretation.”
On 15.09.2000 the annual seminar on TEMPUS project
14077-99 “Establishment of a Local Government Training Network” was held. Burgas Free University is a Contractor of the project. The
Coordinator is Plovdiv University “Paisii Hilendarski”. Representatives
of the Bulgarian and European partners took part in the seminar.

On 19.05.2000 a working meeting” Methods of
Information Protection and their Implementation” was held at Burgas Free University.
From 28.04. till
01.05.2000 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, an
international law competition was held, under the aegis of the European Court
of the European Union and the University of Cambridge. The
representatives of BFU reached the semi-final of the competition.
On 05.12.1999 prof.
Alexander Yankov was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor Honoris Causa of BFU.
