Programme Profile:
The Bachelor programme in Social Work and Counselling tutors qualified and competent professionals to realize within the system of social institutions in the Republic of Bulgaria (state, municipal, non-profit-making). Students learn theory in law, psychology, civil education, sociology, management, social work and counseling. Students acquire practical competences for giving social support and counseling of individuals, groups and communities of disabled people and people at risk; for counseling in preventing crises with individuals, groups and communities; for performing methodical and monitoring functions in institutions and organizations concerned with social issues. Students learn about European practice in applying social projects and programmes..

 

Practical Training and Internship:
Students undergo specialized training in social institutions and NGOs as part of the subject curriculum. The curriculum provides practical competences aimed at giving social support and counseling individuals, groups and communities of disabled or people at risk. Besides, it develops a realistic idea of the process of service administration in the social sphere. Students are given the opportunity to be trained abroad within the Erasmus+ programme.

 

Student Mobility:
The European programme Erasmus+ provides opportunities to the students to receive a grant and study abroad at BFU partner universities in the UK, Portugal, Poland, etc.

 

Career Opportunities:
Social Work and Counselling graduates can find realization as social workers and counselors within the system of social institutions in the Republic of Bulgaria ( state, municipal, non-profit-making); as family counselors; as social counselors.

 

Admission:
The university does not admit students nor provides tuition during the current academic year.
