International Scientific Conference „Blue Economy and Blue Development“

Burgas Free University is organising the International Scientific Conference “Blue Economy and Blue Development”. Two years ago Burgas was nominated as the European maritime capital of 2018, with the BFU to host the annual high level forum for the European Maritime Day. The forum is led by the General Directorate “Maritime and Fisheries” to the European Commission and the Bulgarian Ministry of Transport, and is a part of the calendar of the Bulgarian chairmanship of the Council of the European Union. Right after the official forum and as a fist side event, the Burgas Free University (BFU) is honoured to launch the International Scientific Conference “Blue Economy and Blue Development”. It will be held on June 1 and 2, 2018 and in its focus will be the economic, regulatory, technological and societal aspects of the development of the maritime and the water spaces.

    • Innovation and investments in the blue economy
    • Challenges to the infrastructure and the regional development with the blue growth
    • Developing the tourism in the maritime and river territories
    • The sea and the aspects of the blue development in the public communications and philology
    • Solutions in the psychology, social work and pedagogy, stimulated by the water, water spaces  and the nature friendly life models
    • Legal and administrative aspects of the maritime territories and regulations
    • Engineering and transport solutions related to the water spaces and routes
    • Information technologies and the utilization of alternative sources in the blue growth

Working languages of the Conference: Bulgarian, English, French and Russian

Important deadlines:

  • Registration and abstract submission (for participating with paper or a case) - April 20, 2018
  • Early bird conference fee transfer deadline - April 30, 2018
  • Conference fee transfer deadline - May 25, 2018
  • Submission of full paper or case deadline - May 28, 2018

Registration with abstracts and papers submission guidelines:
Submission of registration should be made only through the platform http://e-services.bfu.bg/conf/en , with abstract upload in a word file. The abstract shall not exceed 100 words and should provide a statement of the purpose and procedures of the study, including major conclusions of the research. Notification to the authors/speakers - in a week after the abstract submission at the email address of the authors used in the application form.
All papers submitted should be typed in Times New Roman (10 point) with single-spacing and should not exceed 8 pages (5 000 words). The author(s), address, contact numbers and email of the author(s) should be clearly stated in the first page. The submission of papers (cases) to be published and inquiries are to be directed at conf@bfu.bg only. All the papers and cases will be published in proceedings and sent to the addresses indicated in the application form after the end of the conference.
Before the Conference, a workshop on future of the EU funds will be held, in line with an ongoing during and after the conference European Maritime Festival, for which additional information will be provided at the websites of DG Mare and the BFU.

Participation fees:
The participation fee is Euro90, to be transferred to the bank account of BFU: IBAN: BG53BUIN78551480025826; BIC: BUINBGSF, Allianz Bank Bulgaria, BSU, reason: participation at the conference; with the names of the participant, and the institution. The invoices will be delivered at the registration day of the Conference or if requested in advance - up to 2 days after the request.
The BFU provides the following discounts:

  • For the fees paid in the early registration (transferred up to April 5, 2018) – 20% discount of the fees;
  • For the regular fees paid (May 15, 2018), for participation (at the venue) of additional co-author of the same paper –an extra 20% discount per each additional co-author over the regular fee;
  • For the regular fees paid (May 15, 2018), for including an additional paper of the participant – an extra 20% discount per each additional paper over the regular fee.
