Prof. Milen Baltov, PhD elected as Rector of Burgas Free University

The Board of Trustees of Burgas Free University unanimously elected Professor Milen Baltov, PhD as Rector of Burgas Free University at its meeting held on 28 February 2022.

Prof. Milen Baltov, PhD has been working at BFU since 2005. He served one term as Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs and Accreditation and two terms as Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs and Accreditation. Prof. Baltov is a prime example of the transition from business to academia. For many years he has been the key expert and coordinator of projects related to the development of innovations, industrial zones and the establishment of intermediate units for projects in Bulgaria, Croatia, the Republic of North Macedonia and Kazakhstan. He is currently the lecturer of courses in Business and the programme  coordinator of the PhD programme "Economics and Management (Industry)". Prof. Baltov is the scientific advisor to PhD students from Bulgaria, India, Germany, Nepal and Pakistan.

Prof. Milen Baltov, PhD is a member of the Assembly for the EU Mission for “Healthy Oceans, Seas, Coastal and Inland Waters" and is Bulgaria's representative in the group of senior stakeholders for the “Black Sea Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) " at the European Commission. He is a member of the Programme Committee for the European Innovation Council under Horizon Europe, a successor of the Instrument "Innovation in SMEs and Access to Risk Finance "( Horizon 2020). Prof. Baltov is the creator and host of the author's show "The Economist Speaks" on Darik Radio.

The former Rector of BFU Prof. D. Sc. Galya Hristozova successfully managed the university for two consecutive terms - from 2014 to 2022. The Board of Trustees of BFU expressed their thanks and high appraisal for all the efforts and contribution of Prof. D. Sc. Hristozova  to enhance the prestige of  Burgas Free University and its recognition as one of the leading universities in the country.

The Vice-Rectors and the Deans of the Faculties will be elected at the first meeting of the newly appointed Academic Council In accordance with the Rules and regulations of the activity of Burgas Free University.
