ERASMUS+ PROGRAMME
Burgas Free University has been awarded the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) for the full duration of the Erasmus+ programme 2014-2020. The ECHE provides the general quality framework for European and international cooperation activities to be carried out within the Programme.
Erasmus+ is the new EU programme for Education, Training, Youth and Sport for 2014-2020. It replaces seven programmes bringing together the Lifelong Learning Programme (Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, Comenius and Grundtvig), the Youth in Action programme, five international cooperation programmes (Erasmus Mundus, Tempus, Alfa, Edulink, the programme for cooperation with industrialised countries).
UNESCO CHAIR ON HUMAN RIGHTS AND CULTURE OF PEACE
In 1998 an agreement was signed between UNESCO and Burgas Free University for the establishment of the UNESCO Chair on Culture of Peace and Human Rights at the University. Since then it has been working actively in the field of human rights, democracy, tolerance, peace, civic education and culture through training of students, qualification of teachers and organization of international events for participants from Southeast Europe, Mediterranean and Black Sea Region. The Head of the Chair is Prof. Rumen Valchev who is also the Coordinator of the UNESCO Chairs in Europe.
