30 years since the graduation of the first graduating class of BFU

On December 6, graduates from the first class of Burgas Free University gathered at their Alma Mater to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their graduation. They were graduates of the then Anglo-Bulgarian Technical College (ABTC) at BFU. On this good occasion, some of the former students of the Anglo-Bulgarian Technical College from the Class of '94 met with the Rector of Burgas Free University Prof. Dr. Milen Baltov, with the former director of ABTC – Prof. Dr. Yulia Yorgova, with Dr. Stoycho Kiossev – a former lecturer at the College and with Prof. Dr. Eng. Radostin Dolchinkov, Dean of the Center for Informatics and Technical Sciences at BFU. The Anglo-Bulgarian Technical College was established in 1991 in partnership with the University of Surrey, UK, under the leadership of the great friend of BFU Prof. Dr. John Howbrow. ABTC was accredited at the highest Level 4 of the National Open College Network (NOCN)-UK. Alumni of this unique ABTC in the country received diplomas from the prestigious British network and the University of Surrey, giving them the opportunity to upgrade their education at UK universities, as well as to work around the world. The College successfully fulfilled its mission to provide opportunities and give a way to the world to its students until Bulgaria's accession to the European Union in 2007.
