At BFU start of the workshop "Robots with LEGO" – STEM training in action

On April 2, 2025, Burgas Free University launched the inspiring Workshop for Building and Programming Robots with LEGO Education Sets – an innovative initiative that combines education, technology and creativity in a dynamic STEM environment.

The event started with two expert presentations, which gave direction and inspiration for the upcoming work: by Prof. Dr. Maria Alexieva with the topic "STEM learning with LEGO Education. Practical Guidelines for Teachers", emphasizing the role of LEGO in engaging and effective teaching and Assoc. Dr. Dimitar Minchev with the topic "Technological stages when working with LEGO Educational sets", focusing on modern approaches and good practices in their use.

The workshop aims to give participants practical skills and knowledge in the field of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), presented through interactive and inspiring methods. LEGO Education sets are used as a tool not only to construct robots, but also to create complete educational solutions that can be directly applied in the classroom.

During the first work session, the participants, divided into teams, created and programmed their own robotic models. The most exciting part of the day was the demonstration – the moment when each group presented their unique project in action

The workshop provides an opportunity to master technical skills and develop comprehensive educational approaches applicable in a real learning environment. During the activities, the participants will create technological options for working with students related to the construction and programming of robots and will develop scenarios for STEM lessons and projects tailored to a specific template, suitable for application in the initial educational stage.

In this way, the workshop encourages participants to build an innovative teaching style adapted to the modern requirements of the digital classroom and prepares them to be leaders in STEM education.

The workshop continues with new meetings, practical tasks and creative challenges.
