BFU and the Municipality of Sozopol Held a Discussion on Legal Prevention
On 19 March 2026, at the Local Commission for Combating Antisocial Behaviour of Minors in Sozopol, a meeting was held with students from “St. Cyril and Methodius” Secondary School and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mila Ivanova, lecturer in Criminal Procedure at Burgas Free University.
The meeting focused on the prevention of antisocial behaviour among minors. During the discussion, attention was drawn to the fine line between administrative offences, acts under the Decree on Combating Minor Hooliganism, and offences under the Criminal Code, as well as the consequences such actions may have for young people. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of young people knowing their rights and obligations, as well as the responsibility they bear for their actions both in school and in the community.
Real-life situations related to aggression, hooliganism, the use of prohibited substances, and behaviour on social media were also discussed. The students showed active interest in the topics, asking questions about the criminal liability of minors, the work of law enforcement authorities, and opportunities for preventing risky behaviour.
The event was organised by the Municipality of Sozopol as part of a series of initiatives aimed at prevention, raising legal awareness, and supporting young people in the region.
