BFU at the start of European University of Islands, Ports and Coastal Territories (EUNICoast)
In the period 11-15 November 2024 the first on-site mixed intensive program within the framework of the European University of Islands, Ports and Coastal Territories (EUNICoast). After the successful online conference held on 27.09.2024 with the participation of 385 participants from the 13 partner universities with a total of 180 papers, the University of the Balearic Islands, Sofia. Palma de Mallorca, Spain hosts the first training of lecturers from partner universities from France, Italy, Bulgaria, Portugal, Finland, Poland, Germany, the French Antilles, Croatia, Slovenia and Greece and the associated partner - University of the Faroe Islands. During the 5 days of the meeting, 56 educators discussed in working groups the future activities within the alliance in 5 thematic areas – Identity, knowledge and cultural heritage of island and coastal territories; Blue circular economy, port logistics and sustainable blue tourism; Management, planning and monitoring of islands and coastal areas; Health, biodiversity conservation, nature-based solutions and sustainable exploitation of marine resources; Data-driven and engineering solutions for coastal infrastructures, renewable energy from the sea, maritime safety and navigation systems.
