BFU Business Master’s graduates rank in the top 5 by salary.

In an article published in Dnevnik newspaper on January 16 titled “Similarities and Differences Between Education in Public and Private Universities in Bulgaria,” graduates with a Master’s degree in the professional field Administration and Management from Burgas Free University rank among the top five universities with the highest salaries. The highest average monthly salary—€5,168—is earned by graduates of the American University in Bulgaria, while alumni of BFU in this field receive an average of €2,209, with an unemployment rate of just 1.1%. The salary of graduates in this field from the University of National and World Economy (ranked 7th) is €1,995, and that of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” (ranked 8th) is €1,985. At the bottom of the ranking are graduates with a Master’s degree in specialties within Administration and Management from Burgas State University “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov,” whose potential managerial alumni earn €1,149 (with an unemployment rate of 3.4%), and from the University of Economics – Varna, where salaries average €1,239 and unemployment reaches 4.7%.

The average national salary, according to the latest official data from the National Statistical Institute (for the third quarter of 2025), is €1,303, while the average unemployment rate for this period is 3.4%. Specifically among university graduates (no separate dataset exists, but it is assumed that for Master’s degree holders the rate is even lower), unemployment stands at 1.7%. The data in the Dnevnik publication is extracted from the information collected in the Bulgarian University Ranking System. Among the specialties included in the professional field Administration and Management at BFU are long-established programs such as Business Administration and Public and Municipal Administration, as well as highly popular ones like Health Management and Administration and Management of the National Security System. In this field, BFU is among the first universities that, following amendments to the Higher Education Act, created joint programs with other higher education institutions—such as Circular Economy (together with the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy and the International Business School), Aviation Management (with the Air Force Academy), and the program Maritime Law and Coastal Zone Management, which incorporates the expertise of the European University of Island, Port, and Coastal Territories.
