BFU once again part of the world’s largest hackathon – NASA Space Apps Challenge
On October 4–5, 2025, Burgas Free University once again hosted the international hackathon NASA Space Apps Challenge, serving as the only location in Bulgaria. During the two-day event, six teams developed innovative solutions addressing 18 challenges set by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
The project “Atlas for Oceans and Seas” by team V2, composed of Valeria Pramatarova and Vladimir Stoev from Geo Milev Foreign Language High School – Burgas, was awarded first place and nominated for participation in the global finals. Their concept for collecting space debris using sustainable technologies impressed the jury with its originality and practical relevance.
