Burgas Free University is the host of the Steering Committee Meeting of the European University EUNICoast.

At Burgas Free University (BSU), representatives of partner universities gather to discuss the strategic directions for the second year of the project. The project is coordinated by Université Le Havre Normandie, France, and brings together European higher education institutions to create a common European university. Alongside BSU, the alliance includes 12 other core member universities from maritime, coastal, and island regions of the EU—from the Baltic Sea, through the Adriatic, Ionian, Black Sea, and Mediterranean, to the Caribbean and the borders of the Arctic Ocean.

The program includes presentations of plans for the main work packages, coordination of joint initiatives, as well as discussions on the financial framework and the sustainability of the alliance. Participation in the European initiative “Plastic Pirates,” a symbol of the consortium’s environmental commitment, is also included.

The event is opened by the Secretary General of the alliance and by Prof. Dr. Milen Baltov with the BSU team. During the two-day meeting, a portfolio of joint initiatives is developed and a financial plan for the second year is adopted.

The symbolism of the date—September 22, the Day of the Unification of Bulgaria—adds special significance to the forum. The day reminds us of the power of unity and collective effort—values that are also at the core of EUNICoast.

Thus, BSU and Burgas are affirmed as a place of unification between national tradition and the European perspective.
