Call for Nominations Opens for the EUNICoast Open Science Awards 2026
The EUNICoast European Alliance has officially launched the 2026 edition of the Open Science Awards, an inspiring initiative led by the University of the Azores that reaffirms its leading role in cultivating transparent, accessible, and verifiable knowledge for the benefit of society as a whole. Running from 6 July to 25 September 2026, these two parallel competitions provide well-deserved visibility to individuals who turn the ethos of shared knowledge into a daily mission across our unique community of island, port, and coastal universities. The researcher category, encompassing both junior and senior specialists, welcomes digital scientific outputs produced throughout the past year of 2025, including open access publications, preprints, datasets, software, code, or open educational resources, provided they feature a public link and clear terms for reuse. Simultaneously, the library professional category shines a spotlight on the pivotal contributions made toward research data management plans, repository support, metadata curation, persistent identifiers, open licensing, and specialized training programs across the entire Alliance. One winner will be celebrated in each category, with the prestigious announcement taking place during EUNICoast’s first international conference, the Inter-Alliance AI Laboratory conference, hosted from 4 to 6 November 2026 at the Université Le Havre Normandie in France. The application process is remarkably streamlined and can be completed via the publicly accessible online forms at office.com for researchers and office.com for librarians, where the comprehensive rules of this exciting European competition are fully detailed.
