Тhe Rector of Burgas Free University (BFU), Prof. Dr. Milen Baltov, welcomed a delegation from Trakya University in Edirne, led by Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hatipler. The university visit is part of the delegation's official tour of the city, organized by the Municipality of Burgas.
The bilateral meeting at BFU was attended by the Mayor of Burgas, Mr. Dimitar Nikolov, the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Burgas, Mr. Tolga Orkun, academic faculty from both universities, and medical specialists from Trakya University in Edirne.
Prof. Baltov highlighted the successful and fruitful cooperation between Burgas Free University and Trakya University in Edirne, which dates back to 1997. A bilateral cooperation protocol was signed between the two universities back then, and it remains active to this day. Joint activities include the exchange of academic faculty, staff, and students, development of joint projects, professional qualification activities, and active cooperation under the Erasmus+ program.
Prof. Hatipler, for his part, expressed deep satisfaction with the long-standing successful partnership between the two universities and voiced hope that it will continue in the future. "I am extremely grateful to Prof. Milen Baltov because he was the first rector I received at the beginning of my mandate. I received exceptional support, as well as a collegial and friendly attitude from him, which continues to this day."
Mr. Dimitar Nikolov emphasized the leading role of Burgas Free University in the field of higher education in the country. He highlighted the exceptional professionalism and talent of the university's faculty, as well as the successful career paths and professional competence of its graduates. Mr. Nikolov accentuated the vital role of Prof. Milen Baltov in establishing BFU on both the national and international educational and scientific markets, expanding the university's international academic reach, and driving successful joint initiatives with the Municipality of Burgas under European projects and programs.
