Educational bridges between BFU and China

On February 2, 2025, an official visit of Prof. Dr. Chen Yin, Director of the Confucius Institute on the Chinese side and Head of the Department of Bulgarian Studies at Peking University, and Ms. Aksinia Koleva, Director of the Confucius Institute – Sofia. The guests were welcomed personally by the Rector of BFU, Prof. Prof. Dr. Milen Baltov, who emphasized the importance of the partnership with the Confucius Institute for the development of linguistic and cultural cooperation between Bulgaria and China. The visit was on the occasion of the celebration of the Chinese New Year according to the lunar calendar and as a sign of support for the educational institutions in Bulgaria where the Chinese language is studied. In the spirit of this cooperation, the guests made a donation of a multifunctional device - a printer, as well as educational materials that will support the Chinese language training at BFU.

Since the current academic year, a group of students and lecturers who study Chinese has been functioning at BFU as part of the initiatives to expand international cooperation and cultural exchange.

During the visit, a meeting was held with the Rector of BFU, Prof. Prof. Dr. Milen Baltov, and the Vice-Rector, Prof. Prof. Maria Alexieva, PhD, during which both the satisfaction with learning Chinese at the university and the future opportunities for academic partnership between BFU, Peking University and other higher education institutions in the People's Republic of China were discussed.

The meeting confirmed BFU's aspiration to expand international educational relations and provided new perspectives for deepening cooperation in the field of language teaching and academic exchange.
