Erasmus Week 2026 Brings Together Participants from Europe, Asia and Africa at BSU
On 9 June 2026, Erasmus Week 2026 was officially opened in Hall 110 of Burgas Free University. The event will take place from 9 to 13 June.
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the academic leadership of BSU and the heads of the university’s main structural units. The participants were welcomed by the Rector of Burgas Free University, Prof. Milen Baltov, PhD, who emphasized the importance of international academic cooperation, knowledge exchange and intercultural dialogue for the development of modern higher education. In his address, he encouraged the guests to use their stay in Burgas not only for professional exchange but also for building new partnerships and friendships.
This year’s edition of Erasmus Week brings together representatives of 11 universities and organizations from Romania, Poland, Türkiye, Lithuania, Germany, Malaysia, the Republic of South Africa and Bulgaria. Among the participants are representatives of Sapientia University (Romania), Koszalin University of Technology and Humanitas University (Poland), Hacettepe University (Türkiye), Vilnius University (Lithuania), Hochschule Stralsund (Germany), the University of South Africa, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, as well as representatives of public and business organizations from Malaysia.
In the coming days, the guests will present their educational institutions, exchange good practices and research results, and discuss opportunities for future academic cooperation. The programme also includes visits to cultural and historical sites in Burgas and the region, giving participants the opportunity to explore Bulgaria’s rich cultural heritage.
As part of Erasmus Week, international guests will also take part in the 7th edition of the International Conference on Governance and Strategic Management (ICGSM), which will be held from 11 to 13 June 2026 under the theme “Digital Twins for a Circular Future.” The conference is jointly organized by the Institute of Accounting and Investment Research at Universiti Teknologi MARA (Malaysia) and the Center for Economic and Management Sciences at Burgas Free University.
One of the most exciting initiatives in the programme is the international urban game “The Burgas Time Capsule” – an interactive challenge that will take participants on a unique journey through Burgas under the motto “One Mission. Four Teams. One Message for the Future.” Through meetings with the local community, teamwork in international groups and exploration of the city, participants will seek answers to questions related to identity, connectivity, responsibility and the future of modern society.
Erasmus Week 2026 reaffirms the role of Burgas Free University as an active participant in the international academic community and a preferred partner for cooperation among universities from different continents.
