EUNICoast Seminar on Engineered Solutions and Blue Energy
The University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) in Palma, Spain – a partner of Burgas Free University in the European University of Island, Ports and Coastal Territories (EUNICoast) – is organizing an international workshop. The event will take place in a hybrid format on 7 and 8 September 2026. It is dedicated to engineered and data-driven solutions for coastal infrastructure, marine renewable energy, safety, and smart navigation.
The scientific forum will bring together researchers, students, and staff from across the Alliance for an intensive day of talks, expert round tables, and open discussions on the technologies shaping the future of coastal and marine systems. The programme is divided into three main thematic sessions covering energy transition in coastal and marine environments, smart marine technologies (such as artificial intelligence and autonomous systems), and data-driven infrastructure and navigation systems. The day will conclude with a strategic discussion on future collaboration, joint projects, and EU funding opportunities. The informative programme continues on 8 September with a technical visit to the host university's campus, showcasing practical projects focused on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable mobility. The workshop will be conducted in English at the UIB Faculty of Economics and Law, with on-site capacity limited to 50 places. All interested faculty members, researchers, and students from BFU can register for either online or in-person participation by 20 August 2026 through the official event page on the EUNICoast website.
