Free tuition for high success for future and current BFU students

Thanks to the municipal program "Successful Students" of the Municipality of Burgas, the new measure "Municipal Order" is already in effect, under which students of the Burgas Free University received funding for their semester tuition fee. From this academic year, the measure "Municipal Order" will also be possible for newly admitted - current candidate students, who at the beginning of the semester apply to the Municipality of Burgas for a refund of their semester fee for a specific semester in which they have shown high results in their studies and performances in scientific research activities.

The understanding that BFU students should be equal in their treatment - incl. with regard to scholarships provided with budget funds reflects the long-standing struggle of BFU for the rights of students in non-state higher education institutions, which has been crowned with success over the years. Such are the decisions of the Commission for Protection against Discrimination, the possibility for students from non-state higher education institutions to participate in and receive scholarships for their student internships, financed with funds from the European Social Fund of the EU, the decision of the Supreme Administrative Court on non-discriminatory conditions in the granting of scholarships with regard to the type of admission and the form of education.

This year marks 35 years since the decision of the Grand National Assembly of September 18, 1991 to establish the Bulgarian State University and in general the first three independent higher education institutions after the changes. The anniversary will be marked with a solemn conference on the topic "The New Idea in Education through University Alliances - 35 Years Later" under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mrs. Iliana Yotova.
