LAZARKI AT BFU – A SYMBOL OF SPRING, HEALTH AND PROSPERITY

Today Burgas Free University was resounding with songs, blessings and spring mood, brought by the little lazarkas from the kindergarten "The Golden Key", Burgas City. Burgas. Dressed in colorful costumes, with baskets in their hands and smiles on their faces, the children filled the atrium of the university with the magic of Bulgarian tradition. They called for health, prosperity and well-being – the symbolism of Lazarus Day, a harbinger of the Resurrection and a bearer of hope and a new beginning.
The visit of the lazarki coincided with the opening of a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) at BFU, which involves students and PhD students from 19 countries and four continents. The program is implemented in partnership with universities from Ireland, Spain, Poland, China, Romania, South Africa, Serbia, Ukraine, Moldova, India, Lithuania, Croatia, Palestinian Authority, Brazil, Tanzania, Turkey, Latvia and Slovakia.
The President of BFU Prof. Prof. Dr. Petko Chobanov, the academic management, lecturers and students warmly welcomed the young guests, who breathed life into one of the most beautiful Bulgarian ritual traditions. Mrs. Irena Mihaylova, Acting Director of the Kindergarten "The Golden Key", presented a congratulatory address to Prof. Prof. Chobanov wished health, grace and kindness to the entire academic community.
Lazarus Day at BFU showed how tradition and education go hand in hand – a bridge between generations and cultures, between roots and the future.
