Georgi Ivanov Popov, a master’s student in the program Integrated Computer Systems and Complexes at the Center for Informatics and Computer Science of Burgas Free University (BFU), achieved remarkable success by winning a silver medal at the National Student Mathematics Olympiad (NSMO’2026), held from May 15 to 17, 2026. The prestigious competition, organized by the Technical University of Sofia with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science, gathered the best student minds from accredited universities across Bulgaria at the Samokov Hotel in the Borovets resort.

Popov earned his silver medal in the highly competitive Group “B”, marking his second distinction after a bronze medal in 2024. His achievement is especially valuable, as this group includes students from fields requiring strong applied mathematical and engineering thinking, where national-level competition is intense.

The National Student Mathematics Olympiad is the most authoritative forum for outstanding students in Bulgaria. The success of the young Burgas master’s student is further proof of the high quality of education at BFU and the university’s capacity to prepare competitive specialists in computer technologies and engineering sciences.

With his silver medal from NSMO’2026, Georgi Popov not only brings honor to his university but also demonstrates strong potential for future success in the field of high-tech integrated systems.
