On May 9, 2026, for another year, BSU will host a National Student Civil Law Competition, which this year is dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the university's founding. The competition is organized by the Center for Legal Sciences and has been held annually since 2010. It involves teams from law schools in the country, who, in the form of a mock trial, justify the positions of the plaintiff and defendant based on a previously drawn lot. The competition takes place in two rounds, which are held on the same day.

10 teams from the Law Faculties of Sofia, Veliko Tarnovo, Varna and Burgas Free Universities, as well as from the UNWE and the New Bulgarian University, have applied to participate in this year's competition.

The Bulgarian Law School will participate with its representative team consisting of Nikoleta Petkova – 5th year, law, Katerina Panina – 3rd year, Martin Trendafilov and Kadir Ibryam – also 5th year. The team’s preparation is carried out in the civil and commercial law club at the Bulgarian Law School, led by a judge at the Burgas Regional Court Filip Radinov – also a participant in the first teams of the Bulgarian Law School. The event, which was initiated by Prof. Dr. Silvi Chernev, has been organized for three years by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anna Cholakova – chairwoman of the organizing committee with the active support of Dr. Daniela Zareva – lawyer and lecturer in civil procedure at the Bulgarian Law School.

On behalf of the organizing committee, we invite everyone who wishes to attend this anticipated event. The opening of the competition is on May 9, 2026 at 8 am in the atrium of the Bulgarian Law School. The hearing of the teams will begin at 9:30 a.m. in room 208. The second final round will take place at 3 p.m. in the same room.
