Social entrepreneurship in the quadruple helix at BFU
On October 14, a round table was held at the Burgas Free University (BFU) within the EU COST Action "Multidisciplinary Innovations for Social Change". The topic of the regional event of the Working Group 4 of this Action was "the innovations in the quadruple helix education-business-governance-society in the sea coastal areas".
Representatives of the Municipal Council of Burgas, Regional Administration of Burgas, the largest employers Lukoil Neftochim - Burgas and the Port of Burgas, non-profit organizations, UNWE, the American University in Bulgaria, the University "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov ”- Burgas, BFU, the Vocational Trade High School, the Profiled English Language High School, many students, NGOs and society figures.
Prof. Gabaldon from the University of Valencia and Prof. Milen Baltov from BFU, as leaders of the working group opened the discussion. The coordinator of the Impact.bg platform Eva Van Mensel presented the initiative for social entrepreneurship launched by the Kingdom of Belgium with Prof. Nikolay Dentchev at its core, the experience in other countries and the already joined initiatives in Bulgaria after its launch in September this year.
The discussion outlined the tradition in our country dating back to consumer cooperatives, and showing the achievements in promoting entrepreneurship among students. The blue growth and the marine topic are more and more open to the quadruple helix dimensions of education and society, with the efforts and achievements in Burgas focused on that. The students of BFU themselves were the living example for realization through practices in other countries and in Bulgaria, though their student's legal clinic and through their innovative start-up.
