The Teacher – An Awakener of Generations in the Jubilee Year of BFU
On the eve of the National Awakeners Day and in the year when Burgas Free University (BFU) celebrates 35 years since its establishment, the academic community reflects on one of the most inspiring missions – that of the teacher, who preserves knowledge, nurtures values, and awakens the pursuit of spiritual growth.
For the fifth consecutive year, the Student Club "Mission TEACHER" and the Center for Humanities at Burgas Free University are organizing a pedagogical essay contest themed "The Teacher – The True Awakener," dedicated to November 1st – National Awakeners Day.
The initiative carries a particularly symbolic meaning during BFU's jubilee year. For 35 years, the university has been promoting knowledge, spirituality, and continuity between generations as core values of academic education. The contest continues this tradition, offering students the opportunity to express their personal views on the contemporary teacher as an open-minded inspirer, spiritual guide, and agent of social change.
All undergraduate (Bachelor's) and postgraduate (Master's) students at BFU are welcome to join this creative challenge. Participants will have the chance to share their reflections on the teacher's calling, the power of personal example, and the role of education in shaping personalities and values.
The pedagogical essays will be evaluated by an academic jury chaired by Prof. Galya Hristozova, DSc (Pedagogy), with members Prof. Maria Aleksieva, DSc, and Assoc. Prof. Zlatina Dimitrova, PhD.
The authors of the top three essays will receive material prizes and will be nominated to participate in the XXVIII Conference for Student Scientific Creativity of BFU, with an opportunity to have their works published. All participants will receive certificates of appreciation.
The deadline for submitting the essays is November 25, 2026, at 11:00 PM.
The official award ceremony will take place on the eve of Saint Nicholas Day (the official holiday of Burgas) and the Student Holiday on December 8th.
