The mastering and application of the best practices in the field of Pedagogy at the beginning of the 21st century confirmed the need for an in-depth scientific study of its problems at pre-school and primary school stage.
The PhD Programme in Pre-school and Primary School Pedagogy (Scientific Major: 1.2. Pedagogy) is aimed at responding to the needs of the dynamically changing educational environment, the education policy and teacher training, the educational services provided and the opportunities for the realization of highly qualified specialists in the region and the country, as well as the harmonization of the Bulgarian education with the European educational practices.
The relevance of the programme is determined by its main focus - a study of the processes and phenomena which occur in the contemporary educational reality and are caused by the dynamics of the development of the social, ethnic, religious, professional, cultural, group and personal environment.
All current issues, facing society and civilisation in general, have their social and pedagogical projections and Pedagogy explores the different aspects and seeks solutions. The different aspects require an in-depth study of the processes and mechanisms that determine the successful personal and professional realization of children and adolescents in the context of the educational reality.
