Quality Management

ISO 9001-2015Quality management stems from the status of BSU as a non-state higher education institution and from the university's mission to prepare competitive specialists with high qualifications and qualities for rapid professional realization and development in a dynamic and globalizing environment.

Burgas Free University is currently in the process of working and certifying according to the ISO 9001:2015 standard, preparing for certification all main activities and areas: education of students in bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees, qualification activities, research activities and international activities.

Quality objectives

  • To offer specialties with high and sustainable demand, by reacting proactively to emerging trends in the labor market.
  • To orient training towards the requirements of practice, by developing lasting relations with business, professional organizations, governmental and non-governmental institutions. 
  • To guarantee the interests of students by providing opportunities for choice, representativeness, mobility and expression. 
  • To develop and improve its activities by building a rational system for quality measurement and control. 
  • To offer a socially acceptable price for education by implementing mechanisms for effective resource management. 
  • To incorporate the educational process into European values ​​and standards by integrating with other academic institutions for exchange of experience and joint projects.  
  • To direct scientific research activities towards problems of significance to public practice, by building a competitive environment for stimulation and funding. 
  • To maintain an optimal level of academic staff, by upholding institutional criteria for selection, attestation and scientific development. 
  • To impose high standards for work and communication, by providing a modern material and technological environment.  

Quality management methods and processes

  • Annual surveys are conducted among prospective students, students, graduates, lecturers and employers regarding individual quality parameters.
  • Through systematic internal and external audits,  all main, auxiliary and service activities  and structural units are monitored.
  • The results of the audits and surveys are analyzed at the management levels in BSU and the actions taken and their results are registered through a decision control system.
  • Regular and planned trainings are conducted for lecturers and employees  according to specific goals of BSU, needs identified during monitoring, etc.  
  • Annual evaluation and certification of all lecturers and employees is carried out in accordance with the quality objectives and the defined standards for work at BSU.

  • Among prospective students regarding their motives and expectations;
  • Among BSU students to assess the quality of teaching and the lecturer; 
  • Among students to assess the course of study;
  • Among students for administrative services and information provision;
  • Among graduates of BSU educational programs regarding the curriculum;
  • Among BSU graduates for professional realization and career development;
  • Survey among employers for assessment of competencies;
  • Survey among lecturers.
