Webinar Applying for PhD Scholarships at the European University Institute, Florence

The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria (MES) offers scholarships for doctoral studies at the European University Institute (EUI). Established in 1972 through an intergovernmental agreement initially among four EU member states, EUI is based in Florence, Italy, and provides doctoral programs and research opportunities in four academic fields: History and Civilization, Economics, Law, and Political and Social Sciences.

On 24 November 2025, from 16:00 to 17:00 CET, EUI will host the webinar “PhD Prep Talk for Bulgaria” via Zoom. The event is aimed at Bulgarian PhD candidates and will be led by researcher Ivanka Karaivanova (Department of Law) and EUI alumna Julia Rone, Assistant Professor at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU).

 Funding: The Bulgarian government provides a monthly scholarship of €1500 for the first three years of study. The fourth year is funded by EUI. Additionally, €350 in annual travel expenses is covered.
